Songs/ Poems That I like.

Samba Pa Ti

"If This Is Goodbye"

My famous last words
Are laying around in tatters
Sounding absurd
Whatever I try
But I love you
And that's all that really matters
If this is goodbye
If this is goodbye

Your bright shining sun
Would light up the way before me
You were the one
Made me feel I could fly
And I love you
Whatever is waiting for me
If this is goodbye
If this is goodbye

Who knows how long we've got
Or what were made out of
Who knows if there's a plan or not
There is our love
I know there is our love

My famous last words
Could never tell the story
Spinning unheard
In the dark of the sky
But I love you
And this is our glory
If this is goodbye
If this is goodbye
MARK KNOPFLER
The song is based on the cellphone calls made from the Twin Towers to loved ones that horrible morning. It is devastating, and yet somewhat encouraging at the same time. If that event can be turned into a love song, then there is hope for the species after all. That’s the ultimate power of music – to go to the dark recesses of our souls and attach beauty to the pain.

When I die.

When I die
Give what's left of me away
And if you need to cry,
Cry for your brother
Walking the street beside you.

And when you need me,
Put your arms around anyone ,
And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
Something better
Than words
Or sounds.

Look for me
In the people I've known
Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
And not on your mind.

You can love me most
By letting hands touch hands,
And by letting go
Of children
That need to be free.

Love doesn't die, people do.
So, when all that's left of me ,Is love,
Give me away.
